Via the comment thread of Language Hat’s post on yet another questionable column of the NYT “language maven” William Safire — no, I won’t link to his article; Language Hat calls it “a nasty piece of work” — I found a much more promising commenter on language in the mainstream press in Jan Freeman, who writes for the Boston Globe. Read her latest piece on “incent”. I wasn’t aware that incentive goes back to Latin cantare (”sing”), and appreciate her reasonable tone.

Lourdeur des bras et des jambes, même des paupières (le sommeil du métro est le meilleur de tous). Je ne me plains nullement : c’est enfin assez agréable d’être physiquement épuisée, au lieu de mentalement. Ce que je suis depuis des semaines, voire des mois.

Pourquoi, me demandez-vous, après un Paris Carnet ? Simplement parce que je ne suis rentrée que peu avant l’aube, ayant fini en boîte gaie#[1] avec trois charmants messieurs blogueurs. J’espère que mes compagnons de route sont bien rentrés ; j’ai eu quelques soucis pour l’un d’eux…

La Passerelle était bien plus agréable que tous les endroit qu’on a essayé récemment. Vivement qu’on y revienne la prochaine fois.

Pas de name-dropping (énumération prétentieuse des noms des célébrités blogosphériques avec qui j’ai eu l’honneur de converser hier) cette fois. Ma mémoire, même en l’absence totale d’alcool dans mon système, est un peu embrumée.

J’ai néanmoins la vague impression d’avoir fait un cours de phonologie à deux collégiennes. Et parfaitement sûre d’être rentrée avec une magifique rose bicolore (qui a même survecu la sortie en boîte) ; merci Bisounounours. Un jour je raconterai l’histoire entre moi, les hommes, et les roses bicolores. Peut-être.

Leur projet « chapeau » est déjà en ligne chez Kozlika. (J’ai l’air passablement con, mais bon, c’est le risque qu’on prend.)

Amicalement, la fille passionnée de wiki qui apprend à programmer en Python. [Ah, bon ? C’est fou sous quelles appellations on peut se trouver mentionnée sur le web. Mais je ne puis nier que ça doit être moi.]
