Over the last few hours, ˌser.ənˈdɪp.ɪ.ti received 19 pieces of comment spam containing philosophical quotations by Ernest Becker, Annie Besant, Henri Bergson, Peter Fosl, Emma Goldman, John Burdon Sanderson Haldane, David Hume, Milan Kundera, Sophia Loren, John Stuart Mill, Friedrich Nietzsche, Plutarch, Hilary Putnam, Ayn Rand, George Santayana, Socrates and Herbert Spencer. We would like to thank [redacted], providers of fine online gambling services, for the unexpected instructional material we perused over breakfast, and congratulate them on their excellent choice of quotations, two or three oddballs nonwithstanding.
Dave’s excellent anti-spam plugin Spam Karma prevented any of these missives to show up on this site, or even in the list of comments awaiting moderation. Which, I gather, was not the case for the between 7,000 and 10,000 blogs that Google returns on searching for the less well-known of the quotations.

I’ve been using Spam Karma as well, and gloating over the reports of how many spam comments it has blocked.
Funny. Just after reading this I got a spam message (which made it throught he filters) which included about 15 philosophic quotes.
Clever they are.
I have been LOVING Spam Karma… it is seriously kicking some butt on my comment spam - one got through on the first day, but since then I haven’t seen a single one in my moderation queue. And my sister’s wp blog, which I admin for her, has also been spam free… after 3 days, 250 spams blocked!
